1. Who can create a profile and look for a family?

Everybody who is studying abroad and interested in working as a babysitter can sign up. It will give you the option to dive into the culture of your host country. Even if you are not studying abroad but want to have an intercultural experience you can try to find a foreign family in your home country and babysit there.

2. Do I need to study abroad in order to be able to sign up?

This service aims to bring together students studying abroad and families looking for a foreign-language babysitter. However, even if you are not studying abroad you can sign up and look for a foreign family in your home country.

3. Who are the families?

Families who are internationally open-minded and who want their children to learn a foreign-language in a fun and playful way – by having you talk in your native language to the children.

4. Do I have to pay for this service?

No, you do not have to pay in order to use the service of the website. You can create your profile and get in contact with a family all for free.

5. How long should the minimum stay abroad be?

This is completely up to you and the family. You can find a family who is looking for a babysitter just for the month of summer vacation while another family is looking to get somebody for six months.

6. How can I get in contact with a family?

When having found somebody, you can easily get in contact with that family via our messaging system. Write a message to them and agree to meet up as soon as you are abroad.

7. What benefits do I have?

Not only will you earn some extra money when babysitting once or twice a week at a local family; also will you be able to get in contact with local people and get an insight into their culture. You might be meeting people at school, when you go to a school event with the kids or meet people while being in the park with them. Your family might be able to help you with university issues, for example, or tell you about the “hottest spots” in town. So, there is much more to it than earning money.

8. Can I stay with the family?

That is all up to the agreements you and the family make. Normally, you will have your own apartment and babysit two to three times a week. Of course, you can also agree to stay with the family if they are fine with it.

9. How much money do I earn?

That is part of the agreement you and the family have to make.

10. Can everybody contact me?

Everybody having a profile can contact you. However, as people can just find your first name on your profile, it is up to you whether you get in contact and meet up.

11. What happens after having found a family?

You can, of course, delete your profile after having found a family. However, if you like the experience and can imagine working as a foreign-language babysitter again, you can just check the box “I already found a family” which will appear on your profile.

You will have your child/children better learn a foreign language in a fun and playful way. Children catch up a foreign language quiet easily if frequently spoken to them. Have the babysitter go with them to the park or do their homework with your kids, for example. Bring internationality into your house and learn something about the culture of the student while teaching him/her something about your culture. You will have an excellent cultural and language exchange.

6. Can the student stay with us?

That is all up to the agreements you and the student make. Normally, the student will have his/her own apartment and come to babysit one to two times a week, for example. Of course, you can also agree to have the student stay with you, if he/she is fine with it.

7. What does the student have to do?

That is all up to the agreements you and the student make. The student could come during night times to babysit, also he/she could come to pick up your child/children from school, go to the park or complete their homework with them. You and the student get in contact and make the arrangements.
